Our Evening at Elio al Mar

Have you ever had a culinary experience where you thought you heard angels sing with every bite?? Last night was the closest experience to culinary divine intervention I have had in a long while. My only regret is I was too full to try the Tiramisu!
Elio's is an Italian restaurant right smack on the beach at Progreso.
We had perfect luck with the weather. It had rained for a few hours before we left our house and didn't start raining again until we left the restaurant. The ocean was incredibly beautiful and tranquil.
We pulled up to Elio's, a quiant little place off a dirt road.

Above is the blossoming and fruiting fig tree and the coconut tree that are in the front yard of Elio

They obviously run a sharp kitchen because it is the first thing you see when you come in the door.
We had the best table in the place.. although it is small and there really was no bad table. This was our view:
We had fresh tuna and bread for appetizers. For salads Ed had a greek salad and I fresh avacados with mozzerrella. Ed had grilled grouper with vegetables and I gnocci with gorganzola and bacon wrapped shrimp.
Perfecto!
Which of course leads to....

A happy Ed and Deb!

Here is our new friend Claudio:

Claudio waited on us. He is new here as well. He just moved from Italy. He is a lovely young man.. and yes Nadia.. I told him I will be bringing you when you get here so he can talk to a real Italian! LOL.

And Then My Friends.. We knew for sure the angels were with us when we saw the sunset!!

Addio per ora!
AdiĆ³s por ahora!
Goodbye for now!
